Senior Pictures
I was wandering around our excuse for a mall the other day, looking at the Senior Pictures the local photographers have up to advertise their *expertise.* I began to wonder when Senior Pictures started bordering on soft porn? I remember my senior picture and if I was more energetic, I would scan it and post it here. But I am not. Was it attractive? No not really. Sexy? Hell no. Remotely seductive? Give me a break. Frankly, I remember most of our pictures being really lame. Awkward poses by a fake wall, a whicker chair or the year "9_" (Like I am going to say when I graduated.....) But as I walked throught the mall, all these girls have these eyes... these "come-hither" eyes. They are wearing, well, not much, and the boys, most of them have no shirts on! I don't want to see that, and I surely don't want to see your 'tats on your *bulging* biceps. Ugh. Many of the girls photos look as though they could be in Maxim... A friend showed me a graduation announcement they had got, and the girl is sprawled out on her back, Hair flowing around her side-turned head, with eyes that suggest.... well... I have some senior citizen readers, so I will let you finish the sentence. I just think of Baby Girl and in my mind fast forward about 16 years.... Do I want 20 or 30-something men wandering around a shopping mall thinking, "Man! She's HOT!" Nope. No I don't. Confident? Sure. Pretty? Yep. Cute? That's good too. "Smokin' Hot!!" No way..... Maybe I am naive. Maybe there is no innocence of youth left. Maybe it has all come down to "sex sells" regardless of anything. But, I sure hope not. And to that young man... pull up your pants and put a shirt on!! No if you'll excuse me, I have to go iron Baby Girl's burka...

Amen sister! I agree. I am shocked to see the photos that some of my basketball players show me that they post on Myspace. You can always explore the convent for Baby Girl. No make up and full body and head covers are always appropriate...
Well, my graduation year starts with an "8", so lucky you! Uh, let me think back.... sexy senior picture????? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How bout turtle neck sweater???!!!!! Lord help us! In 4 years I'll be taking MJ for senior pics. There will definitely be a shirt on! AHHHH!!!!
Amen to that!

Funny, I was thinking along a similar line the other day while reading a book that TGD got called "Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters." I happened to read the chapter on protecting our daughters (it was mostly about sex). It was possibly the scariest thing I've ever read (apparently everyone's having sex and getting herpes in high school). So, no sexy photos for my girls. I'm hoping they bring back the giant flannel shirts by that time.
